Traditional Worship Service

Traditional Worship @ Kenmore UMC

Everyone is welcome at Kenmore UMC.   Each Sunday we gather to hear the Word of God and learn how to apply it to our everyday

lives. We offer a traditional-style service with hymns, choir, and more liturgical elements.

Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month. Child Care is available for infants and toddlers by paid staff.

Bible Times for children through 2nd grade follows the children's moment in church.  Worship bags are provided to help

children during worship.

What time is Sunday Worship?

We gather for worship at 10:00 AM each Sunday morning including beautiful organ music, choir, traditional hymns and message.   You may also join us via Livestream  which begins about 9:50 AM, on YouTube via the link below.

What is Worship like?   Worship includes a mix of music from our organ, piano, and/or keyboard, supplemented by our Chancel Choir, Soloists, Musicians, and Bell Choir. A "Call to Worship" begins the service which includes scripture, Message and Children's message.  Holy Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of each month. Christ our Lord invites to his table all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin, and seek to live in peace with one another. Christ’s table is open to all.  Worship is 45 minutes to an hour.

What should I wear?   We believe God cares more about the state of our hearts than the state of our attire, so we encourage you to dress the way that feels most appropriate to you; that’s your “Sunday best.” Some folks at Kenmore UMC dress casually, while others are more comfortable in a suit and tie.

What entrance do I use?   Our parking lot is on Landers Road.  Enter thru the Garden entrance on the left side of the building.  Or on Sundays you can enter using the Delaware Road doors in the front of the church or the 32 Landers Road entrance.  The Garden Entrance is handicap accessible and the elevator is located there.  The elevator goes up to the Sanctuary or down to the Family Life Center, Fellowship Hall, kitchen, and rest rooms.

Where do I go from there?    From the Garden Entrance, you will turn right at the door and take the stairs on the right up to the sanctuary.  From the Delaware Rd. entrance, just head up the stairs and the sanctuary is on your right.  From the Landers Rd. entrance, head up the first set of stairs, the down to the Narthex, which leads into the sanctuary.   One of our ushers will greet you and present you with that days bulletin.

Is there child care?     Yes, we have child care for infants to 4 years old beginning at 9:45am through noon every Sunday, should parents want to attend Sunday school after worship, which runs from 11:15am to noon.

What if my Child needs me during the service?  One of our child care staff will come and get you, or bring your child to you.

What if I want to keep my child with me?  No problem!  Children are most welcome in the service.

Where do I sit?
There will be plenty of seats available in the sanctuary so sit where you're comfortable. On sunny days, the light streams in beautifully through our stained glass windows.

Family Communion Sundays
We celebrate Family Communion the first Sunday of the month.  Children ages five through fifth grade stay in worship with their families.  In the United Methodist tradition, everyone is invited to receive communion, regardless of denomination or previous experience with receiving communion.  Children are also invited to receive communion at their parents discretion.

What should I do if I need to leave in the middle of the service?
Don't worry, you may get up and leave as you need to.

Where are the bathrooms?
There are 2 bathrooms close by.  Just ask one of the ushers at the back of the sanctuary.

What happens after worship?
We have a coffee and refreshment time located in the room right behind the sanctuary.  Our barista's will set you up with some fresh coffee, tea, or pastries.  This is an great time to visit, reconnect, and enjoy a snack before Sunday School.

Is there Sunday School for Children?
Yes! Children ages five through fifth grade are invited to sit with their parents for the first fifteen minutes of worship, through the Children's Moment in the service.  They can then depart with the Sunday school teachers for "Bible Times" in the Asbury Preschool wing.  Parents are asked to pick up their children following worship and bring them to our "Coffee Time" for a snack with the congregation.  Parents can then bring their children back to the Preschool area for a biblical story via video while parents attend Sunday School until noon.
Parents will be asked to check in their children the first time they attend, and to provide their cell numbers should an urgent need arrive with their child.  Our child care providers and Sunday School teachers have been trained in pediatric emergency response/first aid, Safe Sanctuary Awareness, and received national background checks.

Is there Sunday School for older children?   Yes, beginning at 11:15 AM we offer Christian Education for all ages. Just ask one of the ushers for directions.

Middlers - Sunday school is offered for Middle School youth following worship and "coffee time" beginning at 11:15am til noon.  They meet with their instructors on the 3rd floor.

Is there Sunday School/Bible Study for Adults?

Do you have any other worship services?
